Street People and Other La Boca Icons, 2015
Street People was created in 2015 as a "3x3" of nine photographs and is based on shots taken mostly in La Boca neighborhood of Buenos Aires, Argentina in January 2014.
La Boca, literally "The Mouth," is named after the mouth-shaped port on the Riacheulo River (see Google Map). The neighborhood is distinguished by its multicolored buildings: bright reds, yellows, oranges, greens and blues. Some of the street art and colors are captured here including the Street People, "Juana," "Alberto," "Gloria" and "Pepe."
"This Way" was shot in the high-rise, business section of Santiago, Chile and is included here as a rigidly graphic counterpoint to the hastily drawn graffiti, "Escultor, Pintor, Poeta, Escritor (aka Hoodie)." After shooting "This Way," a security guard on the sidewalk chased me away explaining that photography was prohibited!
